  • The Duke Energy Foundation donated $10,000 to Florence-Darlington Technical College to bolster its welding program that helps students gain skills for skilled trades & strengthens local workforce development.  The Post and Courier

  • Dr. Neal Thigpen, former FMU professor of Political Science and Geography, was awarded the Order of the Palmetto by Governor Henry McMaster in Florence; the honor recognizes his work as an advisor and mentor.  SCNow

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tidelands Health reported a network connectivity issue on Tuesday, according to Dawn Bryant (strategic communications director) with repairs underway to restore full service for patients and staff. Local IT teams are coordinating efforts to resolve the problem promptly.  WPDE
  • A Planet Fitness trainer in Florence advised residents to set realistic new year fitness goals this week, urging them to adopt manageable workout routines for lasting progress (local gyms are already seeing more visitors).  WPDE
