  • Downtown Florence welcomed five new businesses in 2025 including a jiu jitsu studio, thrift store, and new restaurants. Downtown is set for more upgrades in 2026—Carolina Theatre will reopen this spring while The Gamble Apartments and Urban Square project will add new homes and office space.  The Post and Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Retired Francis Marion University professor Neal D. Thigpen received the Order of the Palmetto from Gov. Henry McMaster during a surprise ceremony at Victors in downtown Florence on Jan. 6, and he is honored for his lifetime of service in political science.  The Post and Courier
