- ➤ Communities in the Pee Dee honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. yesterday with regional celebrations. In Florence, over 100 residents marched from Oakland Avenue to the downtown performing arts center (highlighting unity) while gatherings were held in Hartsville and Bennettsville. WPDE
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Georgia-Pacific donated $5,000 to Florence-Darlington Technical College to support its mechatronics & electronics engineering technology programs, which prepare students for manufacturing jobs and strengthen regional workforce development. The Post and Courier
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Eighty-eight-year-old David Garrison raised safety concerns about the boat landing at DeWitt's Bluff Landing after it reopened from repairs, saying the ramp lacks handrails and poses a risk for seniors. Florence County Administrator Kevin Yokim said handrails will be considered once the parking lot and dock are fixed. WPDE
