Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 13th of February.
Good morning, Florence.
🎓 Education
Schools across South Carolina are now receiving locally grown food in their cafeterias through a new state-funded program that reimburses schools for purchases from local farmers.
Horry County schools received $60,000 in funds via the Certified SC Cafeteria program, which connects nearly half a million students with seasonal produce.
🏛️ Government
South Carolina tax filings will differ from federal returns because the state stopped automatically adopting new federal deductions after 2024.
Taxpayers, including service members and seniors, should file soon since state changes have not yet been voted on.
📰 Real Estate
Local home sellers can use online valuation tools and consult real estate agents to estimate their home's selling price in 2026.
Experts note that factors such as location, home features, and market conditions (like recent sales data) help set competitive listing prices in Florence.
