  • House of Hope & Florence 1 School District are partnering to build a community of ten homes for school members facing homelessness, with plans to offer stable housing and support services soon.  SCNow
  • Joye Law Firm is offering free $25 Uber vouchers to SC residents for safe rides during St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Registrations close at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, with vouchers delivered to Uber accounts by 10 a.m. Friday (rides valid from Friday noon through Sunday 4 a.m.).  WFXB
  • House of Hope’s Evening of Hope event at Florence Center drew over 1500 residents as Bethany Hamilton shared her faith and resilience plus Christian singer Megan Woods uplifted the crowd with her music.  SCNow

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A local food distributor expanded operations in Florence County through a new investment and created 85 new jobs. The company said the move will spur local economic growth.  WMBF News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • City officials are pursuing a quick fix (cost estimated at $50M) for a sewage overflow that caused foul odors and polluted a local creek. The move follows concerns raised by residents and visitors.  The Post and Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Florence County Animal Services will launch a new rehoming and managed intake program on Monday. The program, developed by Danielle Poston using local rescue partners and community resources, uses a seven-day waitlist for surrendered pets + will introduce a foster program in April.  WMBF News
