- ➤ On March 18, the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Outlook Luncheon at the Florence Center, announcing Jeff McKay as Public Servant of the Year and Luke Wilcox as Small Businessperson of the Year, with nearly 500 community leaders in attendance. The Post and Courier
- ➤ The South Lynches Fire Department announced Tuesday the passing of Fire Chief David Wayne Malone at 64 after a brief illness. He served over four decades — five years as chief — and funeral arrangements are pending as the department mourns him. WPDE

- ➤ Florence artist Lynda English paints local landmarks like Ruby’s Corner and Sky View Drive-In from memories of her 70 years in the area. - ➤ South Carolina lawmakers are considering a statewide mobile alert system for public & charter schools to let teachers trigger campuswide lockdowns or call for help in emergencies. The bill cleared the Senate Education Subcommittee and now awaits a full committee hearing. WPDE
