  • Lawmakers, college students and food advocates will gather on Tuesday, Apr. 28 in Florence to address student hunger and its impact on campuses; community leaders expect the event will boost local support for fighting food insecurity.  WPDE

  • Circle K will open its first West Florence store tomorrow at 6 a.m. at 220 N. Cashua Drive, located across from Nissan of Florence, after months of construction.  The Post and Courier

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Florence County crews responded to a 5-acre woods fire that threatened a commercial building and a home at 4 p.m. on Monday along N. Pamlico Highway in the Pamplico area. They contained the fire with minor damage and the incident was investigated while a burn ban remained in effect.  WMBF News

HEALTH NEWS

  • McLeod Health held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new outpatient pharmacy on Ravenel Street in Florence. The 12,000 sqft building (featuring a drive-thru and curbside pickup) will open to patients on Sunday at 1 p.m.  WFXB
