CRIME NEWS

  • Deontavis Osarion Williams was arrested in Florence on Wednesday and charged with aggravated breach of peace, kidnapping, two counts of pointing and presenting a weapon at a person, robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after he allegedly entered a car with victims on Olive Street on April 16 — police say the shooting incident led to his arrest.  WPDE
  • Police and the SCDC are searching for inmate Ulysses Steven Conner Jr.—a 32-year-old serving a 10-year sentence for burglary at Palmer Pre-Release Center—after he walked off his job at Bojangles on Celebration Boulevard Thursday night around 9:30 p.m., and authorities urge anyone with information to call 911.  WPDE
  • Florence police said a shooting occurred Wednesday evening in the 900 block of East Pine Street and that the victim was treated and released from a local hospital — no arrests have been made.  WPDE
  • Florence police charged a third suspect, Deontavis Osarion Williams, with multiple crimes after he allegedly entered a vehicle on April 16 on Olive Street, robbed its occupants at gunpoint and fled—police said a call from one victim led her boyfriend to shoot at a nearby home.  WBTW

  • Senate Bill 53, known as the Compassionate Care Act, would let doctors prescribe edibles, evaporation oils, balms and body oils to help patients while it remains stuck in Senate committee—raising doubts it will pass—as lawmakers end the session on May 8.  WPDE
