COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Children in need will receive school supplies, shoes, and free vision and dental screenings at the Day of Hope event—volunteers will offer personal support while registration remains open for just over a week.  WPDE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Henry McMaster signed a law that allows recreational anglers to fish all 55 species in the red snapper—grouper complex year-round in state waters, which extend three miles off the coast. The law shifts management from NOAA to the state and sets up a framework for future regulation of these species.  WPDE

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Monday, June 2, the Columbia VA Health Care System will open the new Florence Community-Based Outpatient Clinic at 1380 Celebration Blvd—more than 22,000 square feet and over three times larger than the current facility—to offer primary care, mental health, lab, and social work services. Veterans receiving care will be moved to the new location, which is expected to serve thousands in the Pee Dee region.  WPDE
