➤ The Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial grand opening will occur on Memorial Day, May 25 at 11 a.m. at Warbird Park. Over 1,000 people are expected to attend the ceremony & hear Vietnam War veteran Maj. Gen. James E. Livingston speak. WFXB

➤ A residence fire on the 1200 block of South Firetower Road displaced six people (Florence County Fire Rescue responded quickly and began investigating the cause). WPDE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

➤ Ahead of Memorial Day weekend, the SCDNR is urging boaters to have proper safety equipment and registration as law enforcement will inspect public boat landings across the state (officers will allow corrections before ticketing) to help avoid accidents. WFXB
