ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Funeral arrangements for Florence County deputy Nate Ansay, killed in a crash on Tuesday, will be held on May 27 at 3:00 p.m. — visitation starts at 1:00 p.m. at Florence Baptist Temple and burial follows at Florence Memorial Gardens.  WPDE

CRIME NEWS

  • Marcus Montrell Garner, a suspect in burglaries in northwest Georgetown County, was detained in Florence Friday after a stolen vehicle linked to incidents from May 19 through May 22 was identified via NCIC records—he is now in the Florence County Detention Center.  WPDE

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Florence Downtown Redevelopment Corporation was awarded a $100,000 grant from Hartfood to create a retail incubator on W. Evans Street. The program will begin tenant applications later this year—offering space and classes to help small business owners start retail ventures.  WBTW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The S.C. Department of Transportation will close Holly Circle in Florence County for roadway improvements beginning May 29 — the closure and detour will last through November.  SCNow
