ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A procession of nearly 30 law enforcement vehicles and a helicopter moved through Lake City Saturday to honor Florence County Deputy Nathaniel Ansay, who was killed last week in a collision between his 2023 Ford SUV and a 2008 GMC SUV that injured the other driver, with a funeral scheduled for May 27 at 1 p.m. at Florence Baptist Temple—followed by interment at Florence Memorial Gardens. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Parents have filed a lawsuit against Maranatha Childcare Center, the Florence County Christian school and Free Will Baptist Church alleging a 15-year history of covering up child abuse and neglect after a January incident in which a 72-year-old employee assaulted a toddler — the suit claims officials ignored clear abuse reports and concealed over 20 incidents — while church leaders have not yet commented.
