COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents gathered at Greenwood Baptist Church on May 21 to oppose a planned 104-unit mobile home park near Arthur Road, and county officials said little can be done to block the development as over 1,000 people signed the petition against it.  The Post and Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Francis Marion University Education Foundation got a $32,500 grant from Power:Ed to expand its Summer Success program so 35 students can cover up to four credit hours of summer tuition to keep their merit scholarships. The grant helps low-income and first-generation students (including many from Pee Dee).  The Post and Courier

  • Several local schools were recognized by Keep Florence Beautiful for environmental stewardship, litter prevention and sustainability education during the 2025–2026 school year.  SCNow
