ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The South Carolina Drought Response Committee maintained the severe drought status across all 46 counties — local officials say Florence residents should monitor water use as potential restrictions may be enforced soon. SCNow
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The McLeod for Health Florence Open Tournament will run at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center from July 27 to Aug. 2 and will raise funds for mammogram scholarships. Nearly 60 top women players will compete, supporting breast cancer screening and boosting local tourism. The Post and Courier
- ➤ The Department of Public Health issued a summer water safety alert for pools, lakes and rivers to remind residents to follow safety rules. The alert cites CDC data (over 4,000 drowning deaths occur each year) that highlights a need for caution on the water. WPDE

- ➤ A developer plans to build 155 new homes on Stokes Road in Florence. The project is in early stages and will add housing options for local residents. SCNow
