  • A collision on I-95 near the 163 mile marker in Florence on Monday involved an 18-wheeler and a passenger vehicle that caused significant injuries—officials reported one person was ejected and another trapped while emergency crews responded and southbound lanes remained closed.  WPDE

CRIME NEWS

  • The State Law Enforcement Division is reviewing an April traffic stop in Florence that led to the arrest of 26-year-old Datwon Lashley for driving under suspension, marijuana possession, and failing to stop at a sign—community advocates allege the stop was racially motivated while city officials await SLED’s independent review.  WPDE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Florence County Sheriff's Office reminds residents today of a text scam that appears to be from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles—messages claim unpaid traffic tickets could lead to vehicle registration and driver’s license suspension—officials advise deleting the texts and not sharing personal information.  WPDE
