Good morning, Florence.

Residents on Ivanhoe Drive in Florence have raised concerns that a vacant home on the 600 block has been unsanitary and unsafe for eight years—sparking worries about homelessness and drug activity—and city staff issued a citation in December but have not reached the owner.

Officials said they tried contacting him in March and will work with Darlington authorities to enforce the maintenance code.

AESC paused construction on its electric vehicle battery plant due to federal policy concerns, but Florence and county leaders are moving ahead with upgrades to roads and water systems in the Global Technology Park—actions that include work funded by an $18 million bond.

Officials say these improvements are set to benefit local businesses and support green energy efforts once the project resumes.

Coastal Carolina baseball fans packed Springs Brooks Stadium on Wednesday afternoon to send off the Chanticleers as they departed for the College World Series in Omaha — they will face the Arizona Wildcats at 1 p.m. Friday in a best-of-three series.
