- ➤ On Tuesday, United Way of Florence County announced $475K in nonprofit funding at its Annual Awards and Allocation Luncheon — the funds will support the Barriers to Employment program that helps people with childcare, transportation and clothing costs. Local leaders such as Sen. Mike Reichenbach were honored as the organization plans to invest over half a million dollars in community services this year. WPDE
- ➤ South Carolina will hold its largest pet adoption event when Petco Love Pick Me! SC starts on June 20 and runs through June 29, with nearly every Petco pet care center offering free or low-fee adoptions to home 2,500 dogs and cats. The event also features a mobile clinic that will provide spay-neuter surgeries and vaccinations — a key effort led by the Charleston Animal Society's No Kill South Carolina initiative. WPDE

- ➤ Conway resident Christian Washington graduated from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind in Spartanburg and received the Norman Pulliam Award, Bobby Dobson Memorial Scholarship and the William B.
