- ➤ A crash in Florence County on Friday afternoon at the intersection of Firetower Road and Highway 76 east killed 44-year-old Oshunda Quilin after a Chevrolet sedan crossed into a Toyota minivan's path—while the sedan's driver is now charged with felony DUI and the minivan's sole driver was unharmed. - ➤ Florence-Darlington Technical College held a grand reopening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its SiMT Conference Center on Tuesday. SCNow

- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Public Safety is joining four other Southeastern states in Operation Southern Slow Down to curb speeding and lower car crashes. Extra law enforcement by the Highway Patrol & State Transport Police has been seen on major interstates from July 14 to 20. WPDE
- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Transportation has approved plans to improve a major artery leading into Florence from Interstate 95—this project will enhance traffic flow and safety for local commuters. SCNow
