  • Tidal Creek Brewhouse is adding a Pickleball area called the Tidal Creek Pickle House behind its location in Market Common with 10 courts including four covered; the project will cost about $3 million and has raised about $1 million so far—owners will start work this fall and plan to open next year while also updating the brewery's menu with pizza and new beer options.  WFXB

CRIME NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the Estate of William Rankin filed a lawsuit against the Florence County Sheriff's Office over the fatal shooting by then-deputy Treyvon Sellers last May, alleging that the officer employed unnecessary SWAT tactics that led to Rankin's death and caused ongoing harm to his family (the suit seeks compensatory damages for grief, medical and funeral costs).  WPDE
  • Chriwanta Bryant, a 30-year-old from Conway, was sentenced to life without parole on Tuesday by Judge Alex Hyman for a 2023 armed robbery involving a CashApp transaction and weapon possession—he was found to be a repeat offender after a jury trial.  WPDE
