- ➤ An historic Black church in Darlington County—Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 1372 Pocket Road, established in 1869 and built in 1910—was heavily damaged by a Saturday afternoon fire around 4 p.m., with local fire officials and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division investigating the cause while New Providence Missionary Baptist Church holds an 11 a.m. service today for the congregation.
