Good morning, Florence.

Florence police are handing out free fans to residents in need this week to help ease the burden of rising temperatures as hurricane season nears (the effort is purely community support).

Construction on the Florence County Museum expansion project will begin on Aug.

1 and continue through October next year. The project will add new exhibit space and update museum facilities.

GTC Grand Theater in Market Common will start a two-phase renovation in September while staying open.

The project adds an IMAX screen and luxury seating to six auditoriums by December and upgrades seven more by 2027, with concessions expanding after a beer and wine license is approved by end August.

A lottery ticket buyer in Florence won $20K last Tuesday night when the Mega Millions drawing paid out (according to the South Carolina Education Lottery).

A Ready.gov list shows that preparing for hurricane season may cost a family of four upwards of $300 for basic supplies.

Residents in Florence are encouraged to budget early — ensuring they are ready as the season continues.
