  • Vandals damaged a blessing box set up in memory of late EMT Amber Hickson along the road where she died — her brother repaired it so it can continue serving the community.  WPDE

CRIME NEWS

  • Florence County Emergency Management advised residents to shelter in place as police began a search for a man who led a chase at high speed near a school on David McLeod Boulevard near the Rail Trail and is described as a white male with a buzz cut, black shirt, tan shorts, and a red head covering — anyone with information is urged to call 911.  WPDE

HEALTH NEWS

  • Jodi Young from Forever Young Mobile Physical Therapy visited the Carolina AM studio today to explain how the service helps active adults reduce pain and improve strength, balance and range of motion (which keeps them active). Her visit detailed how the mobile therapy supports local wellness in our community.  WFXB
  • A ribbon cutting ceremony opened the Jean and Hugh K Leatherman Behavioral Care Pavilion in Florence on Monday as leaders including Gov. Henry McMaster showed support for the new 63-bed facility. The facility will offer mental health services such as crisis stabilization and telehealth — patient services are set to begin by the end of August.  WFXB
