- ➤ Authorities say one person died in a crash in Florence County on Sunday and officials are investigating the cause—further details are expected. WMBF News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Florence Police are investigating a reported fight at Walmart on 2014 S Irby St where, on Friday at 4:45 p.m., an argument over a receipt led to an employee allegedly pushing a subject and then punching him—another individual broke up the fight—and the employee was taken to a hospital for an examination. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Hartsville’s historic Center Theater, which once hosted Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn, is undergoing renovations to fix flooding damage and update its wiring, roof, seats, and accessibility features. The theater will reopen with live shows and movie screenings in late spring or early summer 2026—restoring a key piece of our local culture. The Post and Courier

- ➤ Local elections will be held on Nov. 4 in several Pee Dee municipalities including Florence County and Darlington County, where candidates have filed for town councils, mayor seats and school boards. In Johnsonville, a special election to fill an unexpired mayoral term—filings opened Aug. 22 and end Sept. 1—adds to the slate of contests. SCNow
