Authorities say one person died in a crash in Florence County on Sunday and officials are investigating the cause—further details are expected.

Florence Police are investigating a reported fight at Walmart on 2014 S Irby St where, on Friday at 4:45 p.m., an argument over a receipt led to an employee allegedly pushing a subject and then punching him—another individual broke up the fight—and the employee was taken to a hospital for an examination.

Hartsville’s historic Center Theater, which once hosted Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn, is undergoing renovations to fix flooding damage and update its wiring, roof, seats, and accessibility features.

The theater will reopen with live shows and movie screenings in late spring or early summer 2026—restoring a key piece of our local culture.
