- ➤ On Tuesday, August 26, police arrested Ja'Tayvion De'Shon Maurice Dickey in Timmonsville for the murder of a Florence man who was shot at the Hot Spot store on Highway 76 — authorities say another suspect, Kadeem Cleveland McFadden, remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. WPDE
- ➤ Police arrested one of the two 'armed and dangerous' suspects linked to the deadly Timmonsville shooting in Pee Dee on August 28 — he is now in custody. WMBF News
- ➤ The Timmonsville Police arrested 21-year-old Ja’Tayvion Dickey on Thursday—he faces charges of murder and illegal weapon possession after a parking lot shooting that left Florence local Calvin Sowells dead, while officers continue searching for suspect Kadeem McFadden. WMBF News
- ➤ SLED is investigating an hours-long standoff that led to an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night in Florence County (the sheriff said officers engaged the suspect) and more details are expected as the inquiry continues. WMBF News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Today, Duke Energy asked state and federal regulators to approve the merger of its Carolinas subsidiaries and rate increase requests to help fund grid improvements — the utility said the merger could eventually save customers money while South Carolina retail rates will rise next spring. The proposal will need reviews from the S.C. Public Service Commission, the N.C. Utilities Commission, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The Post and Courier
