- ➤ A Florence County deputy shot and killed 30-year-old Justin Lowery on August 27 after he allegedly fired at an ambulance and fled from a standoff at a home on Anderson Field Road and near U.S. Highway 52—SLED is investigating the incident with no officer injuries. The Post and Courier
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Organizers of the Carolina Country Music Festival announced that eight-time Grammy nominee Post Malone will headline the 11th annual event in 2026 after releasing his debut country album F-1 Trillion, which topped the Billboard 200. The festival will run from June 4 to 7. WFXB

- ➤ Boys and Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area will open a new site at Johnsonville Elementary School this September to provide daily after school programs and a four-week summer session.
