- ➤ Florence County Library System is collecting office supplies for the CARE House of the Pee Dee in celebration of United Way of Florence County’s Day of Caring—donations will be accepted at all branches from Sept. 2 to Sept. 19 during normal hours. SCNow
- ➤ More than 500 people gathered at Too Tough to Tame on Aug. 30 to honor fallen Florence Police Officer Sergeant Terrence Carraway—runners received T-shirts, swag bags, and a participation medal while funds went to the Terrence F. - ➤ Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office are asking for help to locate Ernest Gordon—an 86-year-old man with dementia who was last seen driving his silver Chrysler Pacifica at his Cobblestone Street residence in Florence late Saturday, and anyone with information is urged to call 843-665-2121 ext. 80175. - ➤ South Carolina's new hands-free law takes effect today, banning drivers from holding mobile devices while driving—violations will carry a $100 fine for the first offense after a 180-day warning period. WPDE
