ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities shut down two lanes at the Five Points intersection on Cherokee Road in Florence after a multi-vehicle crash—emergency teams are on scene and advise drivers to use alternate routes.  WMBF News

CRIME NEWS

  • Officers in Florence arrested two people on Friday after a suspicious vehicle led them to a car break-in in the Steeple Chase Drive area—one suspect, Quindarius Durham, was charged with grand larceny and tampering with motor vehicles while the other, Jerry Jenkins, was taken into custody on unrelated charges.  WMBF News
  • On Wednesday night, police responded to a shots fired call on Pine Needles Road when a woman reported that her boyfriend fired shots at her—43-year-old Joshua Poston barricaded himself before officers arrested him, and he now faces multiple charges while awaiting a bond hearing.  WFXB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Henry McMaster signed an executive order banning candy, sugary drinks and certain foods from being bought with SNAP benefits—anti-hunger advocates say the move will force families to choose between cheap unhealthy options and nourishing food. FoodShare South Carolina and other groups warn the restrictions could lead to increased hunger and misuse of federal dollars.  WPDE
