Communities in Grand Strand & Pee Dee will gather on Friday at venues in Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Conway & Marion County to mark the 25th anniversary of Sept.
11 with remembrance ceremonies & stair climbs scheduled from early morning to evening.
🎓 Education
Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $180,000 to nine technical colleges, including Florence-Darlington Technical, to boost its electrician program with enhanced construction training and hands-on learning.
The grant will support industry-recognized certifications that help students prepare for local careers.
🏛️ Government
The Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority launched the Tri-County Connector on Tuesday, Sept.
8 to serve Marion, Dillon and Florence counties. The service offers a scheduled morning route with set pickups and an 8 a.m. reservation-based ride to help residents get to work + school and health care.
🏥 Health
MUSC Health will open a new dental clinic at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center on Thursday, Sept.
10 at 2 p.m. The clinic will expand dental services in the Pee Dee (and eventually host a dental residency program to train future dentists).
