🎓 Education
Florence-Darlington Technical College received a $474K NSF grant to boost robotics and advanced manufacturing training — the funding will improve technician courses and lab equipment.
🏛️ Government
Garden City has started phase one of a streetscape project to reduce flooding and improve road safety, with road closures in the southern area *from the Georgetown County line to Magnolia Avenue*.
Construction will continue for several years, with completion expected in 2029.
🏥 Health
McLeod Regional Medical Center accepted a newborn boy under Safe Haven law Tuesday after his Sept.
7 birth and placed him in a licensed foster home. Florence County Family Court will hold a Permanency Planning Hearing (Nov. 10, 2 p.m. at 180 North Irby Street) for anyone asserting parental rights.
