EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students at West Florence High School are falling sick from a lingering gas odor that affects their focus—parents say the smell undermines safety, even though inspections found no dangerous conditions. Florence One Schools inspected the gas lines and air quality and will continue to monitor the situation as concerns remain. WPDE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sen. Mike Reichenbach from Darlington and Florence counties filed the Remembering Charlie Kirk Act to let public colleges fire staff for violent social media posts, and he announced the bill on Facebook after similar actions led CCU and Clemson to terminate or suspend employees. WMBF News
- ➤ Today, the South Carolina Supreme Court ruled in favor of the state by denying a challenge to the redistricting map—finding no law to limit partisan gerrymandering. State officials say the decision keeps the current map for South Carolina’s seven congressional districts in place. WMBF News

Mike Reichenbach from Florence County announced on Sept. 17th that he will file a bill called the Remembering Charlie Kirk Act to require public colleges to adopt a clear code of conduct—staff who condone campus violence may be removed and schools could lose state funding if they do not follow the law.
