- ➤ Cooks for Christ volunteers met Tuesday morning to prepare a chicken bog fundraiser to help the family of 12-year-old Kenley Thompson who battles a painful condition called pancreas divisum. The benefit will take place Thursday, October 16 at West Florence Fire Station on Pine Needles Road — the event to raise funds for her medical bills and travel expenses. WPDE
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Heavy rainfall from last weekend caused two manholes at 3300 W. Palmetto St and 528 Woody Jones Blvd in Florence to overflow with over 5,000 gallons of sewage (residents are advised to avoid the area) as responders begin cleanup and crews test water quality. WPDE
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Alicia Carter, CEO of Kick Cancer, is hosting Florence's third annual Cancer Walk on October 25 to spread awareness of early detection. The walk will begin in the morning at W. Cheves and continue down Dargan street. SCNow
