- ➤ Francis Marion University will acquire 8,460 acres of forestland with 8 miles of Great Pee Dee River frontage near campus through a partnership that includes local and state partners. The property—known as Duck Ponds—will support its new forestry program starting next August and a dedicated building planned for completion in spring 2027. The Post and Courier
