COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Florence Eastern Carolina Agricultural Fair—held at Eastern Carolina Agricultural Fairground—opens today and will run until Nov. 9, drawing thousands with 35 rides, food, vendors, crafts, shows and a petting zoo. The event has been held for over 60 years and will offer a full day of activities for communities across the Pee Dee region.  WPDE
  • The Florence Area Humane Society received a $20,000 donation from Petco Love to fund its low-cost spay and neuter clinic—an effort that will help reduce pet overpopulation in our community.  The Post and Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The South Carolina Department of Transportation announced that the South Strand bridge in Garden City will close on November 3 for reconstruction due to safety concerns—drivers should plan their route ahead as detours and extra traffic are expected. The bridge is set to reopen by Spring 2026.  WMBF News
