- ➤ Multiple road closures are in effect for Halloween weekend in Florence as the 21st Annual SC Pecan Music—Food Festival takes place. Organizers advise drivers to check local routes to avoid delays. WMBF News
- ➤ Duke Energy & the Duke Energy Foundation announced a $100,000 donation to the One SC Fund activated by Gov. McMaster to help food banks amid a federal shutdown. They will add another $500,000 in November to support over 60 feeding programs statewide & complete their monthlong campaign with final grant announcements on Giving Tuesday. WPDE

- ➤ State Treasurer Curtis Loftis said his office earned $1.7 billion from investments in the past year and used the money to help fund schools, roads, public safety, and local governments. - ➤ MUSC Health Florence Medical Center has become the first hospital in South Carolina to use Abbott’s portable i-STAT 1 instrument—which gives lab-quality heart attack test results in about 15 minutes at the bedside—and plans to reduce emergency wait times for patients needing quick care. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ On Oct 28, the Florence County Planning Commission approved two new subdivisions with nearly 400 lots—211 in Quinby and 182 along East National Cemetery Road—just a few miles from Florence city limits. The Quinby development spans 57.57 acres and is already annexed to Quinby and will be served by city water and sewer while its roads will be private; the East National Cemetery Road project is in District 6 and its lots will later be sold for home construction.
