- ➤ Today, South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond announced that two nonprofits — AccessHealth Horry, Inc. of Conway and Greater Florence Habitat for Humanity, Inc. of Florence — were named among the 10 Angel charities for their community work. AccessHealth Horry dedicated 96.1% of its spending on programs and Greater Florence Habitat has helped families build affordable homes since 1991. WMBF News
- ➤ Over $400,000 has been allocated to regional food banks for emergency food response after a delay in federal SNAP benefits. The grants from Central Carolina Community Foundation’s One SC Fund went to Golden Harvest, Harvest Hope, Lowcountry and Second Harvest food banks — funding ranges from about $62,000 to $141,000. - ➤ Hundreds of families in Florence County received free Thanksgiving meals today including 400 food boxes and 500 frozen turkeys provided by law enforcement & businesses in an event organized by Serve & Connect; the third-year giveaway aims to build community trust during the holiday season. - ➤ Florence School District 3 will hold stakeholder forums to gather community input for its superintendent search — the meetings are set for the coming weeks to guide the district's decision on new leadership. SCNow
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Florence Regional Airport will lose one of its three daily flights when American Airlines cancels its late-morning service starting Jan. 1, 2026 — the cut will last until at least March, and the airport hopes to bring back the flight and add a SkyWest flight through a grant.
