- ➤ Florence County Youth Service Coordinator Paula Childers will retire at the end of December—she will miss local families yet looks forward to new adventures after many years of service. SCNow
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Florence residents are urged to get a flu shot as the virus spreads through coughs, sneezes and touching germs on surfaces. Health officials say the shot protects high-risk groups such as the elderly, young children and people with weak immune systems — local providers offer low-cost vaccines. The Post and Courier
- ➤ McLeod Health Foundation’s Circle of Excellence granted $60,620 to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence County to fund new equipment, patient care tools and staff training, marking a record 24 percent increase from last year’s award+ the grant will improve services in NICU, family medicine and clinical education for local patients.
