COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents enjoyed a festive holiday gift market at the city center in Florence where about two dozen local vendors sold homemade treats, unique gifts and seasonal decor. Families met Santa, sipped hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows before the market closed at 7 Saturday night.  WPDE
  • Florence’s annual Christmas ornament features the historic Barringer Building from the 1800s and gives all proceeds to a nonprofit that supports downtown businesses and preservation efforts. The $30 ornament, available at the Main Street Program office, honors the building’s legacy with a design inspired by a vintage holiday photo — a project started in 2021.  The Post and Courier

  • AESC halted development of its Florence battery plant in June because federal energy policy changes affected the project— the company said it is fully committed and the plant may restart within a year.  SCNow
