  • A church in Murrells Inlet is adding new lockers—after-hours food pick-up stations—to help more people get food when the food bank is closed. The new system will soon be available to serve local families.  WMBF News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Francis Marion University started its 56th academic year with a funding boost that includes state appropriations, nonrecurring funds for building renovations and record scholarships of over $27M—faculty and staff received a pay raise for the 25th year in a row. The school also announced two new international study centers at the University of Prince Edward Island and Landau University in Rheinland-Pfalz to offer students more affordable global learning options.  WPDE

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • HouseCashin data shows that West Virginia leads with 41.1% cash home sales while Hawaii registers the fastest growth, and nearly 35.2% of South Carolina homes are bought with cash. Florence County saw cash offers rise by 15.2%—a sign that buyers are turning to cash to close deals faster.  SCNow
